Recently, I decided to search for my name on the internet and among other things discovered that 74 of my images are for sale on fineartamerica.com.
All these images were previously published or awarded by the 1X gallery.
I wonder if 1X has an agreement with fineartamerica for selling images which were published or awarded on 1X. I ticked the "For Sale" for all my images.
I vaguely recall receiving some payments from 1X and wonder whether it was for sales on fineartamerica.

Yes, 1x.com sells images through FFA. Whether it was from there that you received payment or not, I don`t now, of course. We never get information about where our pictures ar sold, only how much royalities we get. Wish we knew where we sell our photos...

Hey Dov!

As Heidi said, FAA became a partner of 1x about two years ago if I remember right. Definitely the sales went up ( at least the dollar values :-) ) significantly since then. I put some photos that were rejected on 1x in my own account on FAA, they don't sell. It's not because they're awfull, I just think "1x" gets some extra advertising there. Assumptions...

Cheers!

To Anyone Who Can Answer My Questions,

Can I submit photos to be sold only from Published or Awarded photos or from any of my images?

Do images submitted have to be full size TIFF saved from RAW or can they be uploaded JPEGS?

Does 1x have the right to edit any photo before sending it to be sold? This does not bother me as long as the editing is just to improve tech quality (e.g. noise reduction, global sharpening, file size increase)?

I recall that in prior editions of the FAQ's, 1x had the right to make changes to photos.

The FAQ'S are not clear about this.

Thanks!

Hi Al

Jpeg is ok, I`m not sure they want TIFF either.

Yes, Ix has have the right to edit, both the image itself and also the title. I think it`s very  rare that they do somethimg like that.

I have experienced earlier that the title has been changed on some of the selling partners, but never that they have edited the image,

except format/cropping.

Yes they sell on FAA, however the thing I don't like the most is that you do not have any control over what it gets printed on.  For example, you may not want your photo to appear on a mobile phone cover.  In your own FAA account you can adjust that but to my knowlege, not so when it's FAA via 1x

Kristan,

As an artist you like to have control over how your art is used and presented at that is a factor in how others perceive your art and you as an artist. On the other hand I think that as a commercial venture the only perception 1x is concerned with is the quality of its selection and as a commercial venture wants to cast the widest net possible in making money. The 2 viewpoints are sometimes at odds unfortunately.

Yes indeed it can seem that way sometimes. I know on my personal FAA there are works that I limit to certain formats. It's all a balancing act isn't it!

Hi!

I also have some questions.

When pictures sell on partnersites like FAA, how much time does it cost (if anyone knows) to see the royalties credited in the 'earnings' on 1x?

I had someone purchase at FAA, the pachage is sent and should arive tomorrow, but I did not see the purchase credited yet.

other question, I think it has been treated yet, but couldn't find the thread, is it possible to give discount to people who want to buy the art (like family)?

thanks

Elisabeth

Hi Dov!

In a desktop layout, click your name, "earnings", and the sold pictures are listed...

Mike
